Stephen Beckman

Stephen Beckman is a leading global commercialization expert with specific background in pre-launch and launch management. In addition, Stephen brings significant experience in partnership management, strategic planning, life-cycle creation and business development. Mr. Beckman served as the Corporate VP of Global Franchise Management at Altana Pharma responsible for the global launch of three brands projected to be in excess of five billion dollars within the next three years. Beckman helped build Global Franchise Management in order to establish Altana Pharma as a true international pharmaceutical company. Within this role, Mr. Beckman was responsible for the entire therapeutic respiratory and critical care businesses.

Prior to joining Altana, Stephen Beckman founded and was president of Beckman HCC, Inc. Based on his extensive experience and expertise in health care marketing management and business development, the firm assisted health care companies market their products, build sales and expand their business by providing specialized expertise in product launch management, business development planning, and strategic planning.

Beckman was former Vice President, Managing Director for the Hal Lewis Group, Inc. /HLG InSight, a medical marketing, consulting and communications company. Prior to HLG, he was Worldwide Executive Director of Pulmonary Products for the Strategic Product Development Group of SmithKline Beecham. Beckman had also been Director of Licensing/New Products Marketing for Astra Merck Corporation, directing the franchise development of Astra Merck’s respiratory business. From 1991-95, he held several positions at Fisons Corporation, culminating in his appointment as Marketing Manager for the Respiratory Business Unit. Beckman began his career in the pharmaceutical business as a field sales representative for Marion Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals.

Among his many professional memberships, Beckman is a board member of the St Joseph’s Pharmaceutical Marketing program. He is also a member of the World Lung Health Committee of the American Thoracic Society, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing Development and the Healthcare Marketing and Communications Council.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Beckman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, with a concentration in advertising and communications. Beckman has participated in executive studies at UCLA and the Wharton School of Business. He is an adjunct lecturer in the Pharmaceutical MBA program at St Joseph’s University.
